Amethist is a successful product of the modern sport blood of Nimmerdor and Erdball xx. Nimmerdor scored many successes himself in the international sport, jumping under Albert Voorn, and was even invited to the Olympic Games. The excellent performance of a large number of progeny carried Nimmerdor to the second place in the Dutch jumping index, making him Dutch-bred jumping progenitor number one. In the international WBCSH-ranking Nimmerdor as second Dutch bred stallion takes a twelfth position. Famous progeny are, for example, San Patrigano Avenir, Den Ham, Canadian Colours, Up To Date, Ahorn and Zadok, who managed to win three Grand Prix in the U.S.A. Nimmerdor's sire is 'preferent' Farn, who produced sport horses of the calibre of Adonis, Amor, Fiorelic, Zwaantje, Optiebeurs Investment and Sandrigo. Dam of Amethist is 'keur preferent' Paerel. She reached Z-Ievel in dressage herself with points to spare and earned an IBOP of 88. She is a daughter of the famous and valued Erdball xx. His sons Tolbert, Pentagon and Triton are approved, while further progeny in the sport includes Apollo, scoring many successes with Nick Skeiton, Just Malone (Helena Weinberg) and the multiple Champion of Friesland Casanova (Menno Botma).

Performance
Amethist showed himself a very consistent all-rounder in his performance test in Ermelo, earning a total score of 76.50. His marks are truly beautiful, none of them below 7. He made promise come true in his first National Stallion Competition in the 1987/1988 season, being over-all Champion of category A, and managing very well the next season in the heavier category B. Amethist is already scoring high in the jumping index with 139 points.
Progeny
In his breeding career, too, Amethist has shown his consistence by passing on his qualities without fail. His progeny is in great demand in showjumping circles, and more recently, in dressage circles as well. They all have these desirably powerful hindquarters. 1992 was a top year for Amethist, 27 of his daughter receiving 'ster' and 7 daughters qualifying for 'keur' predicates. Four of his daughters appeared at the UTV and one, Hidaigo, became Brabant Champion and broke the record with the highest score that year of 895 points in the mare performance test. His son Hitchcock has been approved by the KWPN.
