October 1, 2006 We are very pleased to announce that OXFORD (Burggraaf / Voltaire) will be going to the Toronto Royal in November with Angela Covert Lawrence! He has achieved a Reserve Working Hunter Championship in his Zone, with many wins and championships in New York, Vermont, Quebec, and Ontario. Angela is OXFORD's partner in the showring. OXFORD's fan club is growing daily. Both Angie and Mike report that OXFORD has become a valuable member of their family, and people love to visit him and 'get up close and personal'. OXFORD loves attention, is very affectionate and comical, and passes his amazing character on to his offspring. OXFORD, as a Grand Prix jumper, has won many zone championships in the Open Jumper Divisions with Jill Swain and Angie. We are thrilled that OXFORD has such good form and character that he can also win championships in the open hunters. Quite a feat for a very active breeding stallion! Some of the top hunter trainers in Wellington, Florida, were very impressed with OXFORD's classic form, beauty, and easy going nature, and suggested that he should get back into the hunter ring. (OXFORD had previously won hunter championships with Jim Ifko and Dena Metcalfe at the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair as a 5 yr old).
As a breeding stallion, OXFORD continues to amaze us! Our reproduction veterinarian says that she is going to write a book called "Breeding with Frozen Semen for Dummies, by OXFORD". Last year we bred one of our own mares with fresh semen that had been in the fridge for 8 days, and we have a lovely filly to show for it. Wow!
